The 2008 Phuket International Marine Expo (PIMEX) was unfortunate to suffer lower visitor numbers due to the airport closures in Bangkok in December. Whilst the numbers were reportedly down significantly, there was good news with a number of exhibitors expressing satisfaction with the way the event was organised and with sales made.

Six to eight boats were sold at the show, according to show Director Andy Dowden.

Following discussions with exhibitors and boat brokers (who form a large part of the exhibitor base),  Dowden recently confirmed the intention to move the next PIMEX to January 2010, but this is dependent on finding enough space in the marina for exhibitors as January is the marina´s busiest time. Exact dates for the next Phuket Boatshow are yet to be confirmed.
